Hi Guan,
You could give him a simpler example to start off with maybe?
He will be badly discouraged trying to emulate Laga, lol
lol

Oh yes this looks veeeerryyyy easy lol!! I was only thinking of singular sounds and that works pretty good by screaming vocals, as u said before... But i like the riddim he is playing, and as i can hear it very often in yidaki videos, i think this is a "basic" for pro players..? So prepare for the day in the future when i will ask you about this XD and yes: i am a little insane...... I learned circle brathing in 2 days, so i think maybe in ten years i can do this too ^^ Love n respect, Ike

Hi inseljoe,
To get nice animal voices, you should shout from very deep and in a very high-pitched voice. The high-pitched voice contrasts with the low-tone of the drone and makes as if the animal shout comes from elsewhere. The "deepness" of the origin of the shout means that you should use your diaphragm and belly to push that sound as loud as you can. So you push and scream at the same time. Try short screams first ("Kah" for ex.), then combine them ("Kah Kah Kah Kah"), then imitate seagulls or kookas or whatever.
You can also use a low-pitched voice to make a growling sound like a dog or dingo ("Grrrwrwrw"), but always use your belly muscles & diaphragm to give power to these sounds.
Try to "be" the animal you're imitating. Then, the sound should come out cool directly
^_^ -(WAF!)

I think I would be completely put off watching Laga's video if I was an absolute beginner and wanting to learn calls.
Think of 'ko' Inseljoe, and 'cough it' into your instrument. Guan has a great channel, with some unbelievable videos, in which I suggest you take your time, and look for some very slow playing styles. Djalu teaches CD's are also beautifully articulate, and perhaps you could emulate the 'calls' that you so desire to learn there. Laga is definitley beyond an inspiration, but I'm not sure that will help you, with what you're asking.
Peace, Zed.

Thanks alot to you two, ahaw and zed! I will experiment with the things you told me. And @zed: Any piece of advise that i can get is helpful, i learned that in my life And right here i´m thankful for anything you people can tell me about playing the instrument, otherwise i´m only autodidactive... In the coming months, I will probably ask more questions here about techniques... KahKah Ko Ko Love n Peace, Ike
