Just been to see this great film. I highly recommend it. Though not focussed on the Top End, I know Jack Charles or Uncle Jack as he is more commonly known, and some of the issues might be similar. Interesting character, great stories to tell, full-on life experiences...

Go see it!

What a brilliant piece of work, it has a limited run so rush out and see it while you have the chance.
Honest, upfront and raw story from the heart about a man who you just want to hug- articulate, intelligent, addicted, with a life full of hurt, wonder and wasted opportunities, and yet a blameless understanding of where he is at.
I laughed, cried and reflected all the way through. Uncle Jack is unique, and having met him briefly, a real character.

Also a great insight into the powers of addiction, and how it can rule and ruin a life. And how everyone has a story, and to judge from a look is to dismiss the depths of humanity, and miss out on the richness of peoples lives, no matter how different to yours they may be.

Go, just go.

So I've just seen this great movie, and it should be projected in Australian schools or something.
The only critic I'll adress is it doesn't focus enough on the future at the end -- which your interview does exactly Guan! It should be added to the movie!

But it's forgivable, since it was the will of Amiel not to interfere with too many questions.
I just want to point out only a few can survive more the 30 years of junk. The guy was lucky. I wish it ended on the actual structures/associations that exist against addiction nowadays, instead of giving that "oh, everything will sort itself out eventually" feel. Oh well...

A big RESPECT to M. Charles and to M. Courtin-Wilson!
