Bob Burruwal? Or Bob Buduwal? It seems that Bob Burruwal is incorrect. It really should be Bob Buduwal with retroflexed 'd'. Buduwal is Darryl Digarrnga's brother-in-law and a younger brother of Jack Nawilil. Nawilil and Buduwal have the same father and mother.

Thanks for the clarification, Guan. I've always enjoyed Bob's work and look forward to more from him in the future.

Perhaps you can shed some light- was it the late Ambrose C*m*r*n who first started the ochre handprints on instruments? Seems the history of this motif would be difficult to track effectively.

All the literature quotes Bob Burruwal, but I can understand the error. Similar to the Blanasi/Blanatji, Peanut/Bambinat issue.

Yup, plenty of confusion there if one does not have a good ear for language!

There could be 3 alternatives: Burruwal, Buduwal, or Buduwal. All 3 sound very similar to each other, but "rr', 'd' and 'd' are distinct phonemes so there is only one correct way of pronunciation which is Buduwal. I checked the other 2 alternatives with Darryl and he clearly ruled them out.

Right-o! It is quite interesting to observe how spellings are corrupted and become embedded in the popular culture.

Interesting, I was puzzling this one out myself today through a Google search which bought me here! – so its clear then that these two are the same person, both for art work and Mago maker.

Thanks Guys :D
