Hi there,

About 90% of French people think that the indigineous people of Australia are called the "aRborigènes"... meaning "those who live in trees" (=arbres) !!!

As a cartoonist and a didjplayer, I'd like to draw about this instrument and tell about the culture that's behind in order to "educate" a foreign public (French here) at very humble scale and in a funny way.

Though I know that both Aboriginals and Balanda "Trad-heads" are very pernickety with what can be said and what cannot, with who can say it and who cannot... all that in order to avoid "theft of culture". Which I understand and respect.

This is why I'm asking you here to give me your feelings about that project.

Here's the first page of the comic-strip, and maybe the only one to talk about an Aboriginal legend.
The Legend of Bur Buk Boon on the origin of Didj is so well known in didj'world that it can be found on nearly every website talking about didjeridu.
In fact, it has been used and re-used so many times on the web that I cannot even find to what tribe it belonged at first ! (any clues would be appreciated!)
This is why I chose to illustrate this one, and not a lesser known one... As if this one has already slipped off Aboriginal's hands' exclusivity, hence feeling that I'm not "stealing it" to anyone.

So there it is :

Hi Francis,

Nice work, you have great talent there! I haven't heard of the Legend of Bur Buk Boon actually, we learn new things every day!

Guan
