Hello Everyone,

I just came across this forum and I must say that it looks like a great place! I see some familiar faces from other didgeridoo forums out there, but I am really interested in getting involved with the group here. I am an all american didgeridoo player who plays and teaches in a contemporary style. After playing and teaching a contemporary approach to the instrument for several years now, I am looking to deepen my knowledge and understanding of the tradition of the instrument. To that end I am excited to get involved with the great wealth of knowledge that we have here.

I have been working the "Mago Masterclass" from 'Darryl Dikarrna with White Cockatoo' for some time. This course has really helped me to hear a difference in the approach. Does anyone have a suggestion on furthering my traditional studies from the US?

Hi Presto

Welcome to the forum, good to have you here. You are right, there is a wealth of knowledge here and the desire to share it as well, so ask away, someone will know the answer!. Darryl plays Western Arnhem Land (WAL)styles such as you have on the Mago Masterclass CD but there are other styles of traditional playing originating in North Eastern Arnhem Land (NEAL) which may grab your attention and give you the desire to start to learn and play them. Guan (owner of this forum and http://www.ididj.com.au/ ) has a wealth of priceless video clips on his youtube page http://www.youtube.com/user/ididjaustralia showing many styles of traditional playing which will help you to see and hear whats out there. This may be a good place to start.

Good luck

Paul
