Hi,

I'm reading actually David Unaipon's Legendary Tales of the Australian Aborigines (Melbourne University Press).

This edition, published in 2001, is the first to give back to Cesar (err... M.Unaipon) what belongs to him !
Indeed, an unscrupulous British author managed to get hold of his manuscripts back in 1925 and publish them under his own name (W. Ramsay Smith) for Harrap's ed. without any mention to the original author !!!

This book is a collection of different stories, myths and informations about Australian Aborigines.
It is written "from inside" by a full-blooded Ngarrindjeri Aboriginal, for the White people to read.
David Unaipon appears on the 50AU$ note :

He is known as the "Australian Leonardo da Vinci" due to his inventions (boomerang-like helicopter...) and theories (perpetual motion).

I just wanted to share the info here as there was yet no mention of him on iDidj's forum.
:D

Cheers,

Fran6

Hi Francis,

Thanks for that, I haven't read any of Unaipon's works but I know the guy accomplished many great things, he was a legend in his own right. There is a good entry on him on Wikipedia:
