Hey Guan,
It sounds good, but the compression on the instrument you're playing makes it hard to compare to the Old Fella. In his later years he sounded like he was playing the instrument with lower pressure - as if his muscles had all relaxed and attained an action and resultant sound unlike any other, although his impacts still hit hard.
The hardest thing to get is his sense of timing as it, like the jazz masters, varies between being bang on the beat and switching to offbeat and back within the same pattern!
I reckon if you play the same lick again on an F with mid-level backpressue it'll sound pretty damn close to Ol' D.

Hi Guan,
Nice to hear that you are not smoking anymore. Hopefully you won't be starting again keep up.
And nice playing. it is not as subtle as Blanasi but very nice it sounds to me. I always liked your and Kyle's playing.
Btw, I am kind of attracted by the sound of this mago. Can you give me bit of info please?

U know, I recall some recordings somewhere of someone doing mouth sounds. I went scrounging over the weekend and the only one I could find was on Moyle's 'Songs of the Northern Territory Vol. 1, track 5. There is a short note by Moyle with the mouth sounds written as follows; From Manikay's website; "Oenpelli 1962. Frank Gananggu talks briefly in English about some of the songs; and in Gunwinggu about their associated didjeridu accompaniments. A free translation of his Gunwinggu comments is as follows: In the didjeridu accompaniment for Blue Tongue Lizard songs, the player says: didjemro, didjemro, etc. For Wild Onion he does the same. In Yam, Gunbalang and other songs he says: didjeramo-rebo, didjeramo-rebo, etc. And there is another slower accompaniment in which he says ... etc."
If I manage to find the others I'll be back he to tell, but in the meantime it's worth a listen to this.
