Does anyone know if there are didgeridoo hardcases for transporting instruments around? Note hardcase, not a soft one. The Chooky Dancers need one for their touring mandapul, a hardcase for an instrument around 145 cm in length and a diameter of say 10-11 cm at the widest point is what we need. There's a little bit of a bend in the instrument as well rather than being straight up and down.

A coffin ? :-D

or... they could use very large pvc-pipes and store one or several mandapuls (one up, one down, one up...) each rolled in plastic-bubble.

I did suggest a PVC pipe with screw-top caps at both ends but I think the Chooky Dancers can't be bothered, they prefer something already made and off-the-shelf, if there's anyone who uses these or knows someone who makes them let me know.

Well, I immediately thought of the plastic tubes we use at work for storing architectural drawings, but 145 cm is almost 5 feet long - longer than the average drawing! How about something like this, which you can extend by adding segments:

This one's a couple inches too short, but is getting there, has a carry strap... anyhow, something along these lines might do the trick!

Wait, I have it - fishing rod carriers!! They come in every size and length, and have a carry strap. Plano makes a bunch of them.

Wait, sorry, this one gets better reviews (is sturdier, I think) and is a little cheaper too...

Or... they can store their mandapuls in bazookas too :
Image
1 > gently remove the rocket,
2 > put the bazooka on your shoulder,
3 > let someone else slide the mandapul in the bazooka,
4 > you can even store the bilmas inside the mandapul.
5 > now you need a hard case to store the rocket in...
6 > head for the closest DIY shop and buy a big pvc pipe.

Hahahaha :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Some good ideas there Cindy, thanks much, really appreciate you looking into this and doing the online searching. Your options are also quite affordable, a musical instrument hardcase would typically be several hundred dollars so good savings there, thanks again!

I am quite taken with the image of the mandapul firing out of the bazooka...

Guan, I'm glad to help! Online searching is one of the few ways I can help out from the other side of the world.

I think musical hardcases tend to be very precisely fitted, which wouldn't really work for a didjeridu, when all are slightly different shapes and sizes.
:)
