Got a call from Dhangal who asked if I could help sell a yi
daki made by her brother Djalu, and painted by her daughter, Gabby Dhurrkay. Pics of the instrument below. Gabby is stuck in Gove at the moment having gone up there some weeks (months?) ago for a funeral, and doesn't have the funds to get back home (yup, the kids call Victoria home, I heard it with my own ears!).
The yi
daki is 152 cm long, mouthpiece inner diameter is 35 mm, bell end is 11 cm, and weight is 5-7 kg. I don't know what key it plays in. The instrument is in
Stockyard Gallery in country Victoria. Contact details on their website if you're interested in purchasing this stick, Gabby's asking price is AUD$900 to be paid directly to Stockyard Gallery.
Hope someone can help out.
