I am watching vids on youtube... such a curious fusion of traditional and pop/rock, and most of it makes you want to dance!
I like the ones that feature Crusoe Kurddal and/or Bobby Bununggur, and Michael Dawu is in there too. Rolf de Heer and Peter Djigirr should make another film so I will recognize more people! But there are also a lot of pretty amazing young musicians, singers and dancers that I don't know the names of.
Are there any youtube films of just traditional dance? I have not found any, and I gather it is a group activity more than there being one featured dancer. I have long been a fan of old-style tap-dancing (hoofing) which is all in the legs, and traditional Mimih dancing seems also to be very much in the legs (tho not exclusively). I know that some dances, or dance moves, replicate the movements of other creatures...

Wow, Francis, I am SO lame that I just thought that was a fancy sign-off logo, and never even clicked on it! :/ I have blundered across bits of your website from other directions, but now I am reading it proper. Love the visual depiction of the sound of the didjeridu!! C'est fantastique!! Ahaw wrote: And thanks to Guan, they have even drawn something for the bonus-section of The Call of the Didj !

Très drôle (fancy, eh?) and also very educational, especially for someone like myself who knows nothing!! Very cool, and a great collection of audio clips of different styles. I bet early on Didier sounded sort of like a rooster learning to crow...
