I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself having been invited by Guan and corresponding for the last month or so on "the book".

I've been a didge player since 1999 and until recently only played the didge occasionally lacking any material to progress my skills beyond what I learned back then. In fact I think it was only the cast resin didge hanging on my wall since 1999 (that I traded a VHS didge instruction video for) that beckons from time to time to take it down once in a while and play it that has kept me marginally connected to the "voice of the earth". Recently the magic awakened from a 12 year slumber and beckoned me to begin building and progressing my skills.

I've experimented with a great number of materials and have settled on handcrafting didges from locally sourced domestic woods in the "split-and-hollow" method which I'll be selling on Etsy along with my own acoustic-electric stompboxes, clapsticks, supplies and handcrafted didge bags.

The prototypes are quite good and rather, warm, earthy and very organic and alive sounding. The book sent to me by Guan "The Didgeridoo Phenomenon" is by far the best resource I've found and spans a breadth of topics and issues which everyone should be aware of.

I am hoping to also learn the more trad styles of playing characterized by the Gurruwiwi clan and others in the Top End of Australia.

It is my honor and a privilege to be a part of this community of "Earth Voices" and their role in bridging Aboriginal culture and the rest of the world in a harmonious, and amicable way, while retaining the sacred nature of the didge to the Aboriginal People of Australia.

Kevin
