Hi Guan

Must admit, since the vids were made private I hadn't checked youtube(more accurately, your channel) for a while as I had enough material saved elsewhere on my PC for some practise, so thanks for the "kick up the ass". Love the vids of Mikey, his playing and instruments and the vid of Vernon doing a Matjaki!!, what instruments Mikey do you have?. Have you started making the other vids public again, only I had a lot of them saved on my channel but can't view any of them as yet?
Really appreciate you making these public again though and the new ones you have posted, Thanks.......

Paul

I went through the start of the 1st page Paul and changed the settings to public, it really is time consuming so I'm going to space it out over several days, maybe even several weeks. I've got a house inspection this weekend so that's the priority atm, cleaning the place up etc. Then after that have a couple of big projects I need to get on top of, once the pace slows I'll be able to spend a good chunk of time changing the privacy settings for YT vids.

And people, keep the donations to iDIDJ Philanthropy coming, just $1 is all I ask of you, it will certainly make me happy and might even spur me to make the vids public more quickly.

Guan

Hi Paul,

They won't see that, I've made a separation between living space and work, all the didjs n artifacts are put away in storage but I still want to set up a dedicated space that will serve as museum, multi-media centre, reference library. When I get sorted I'll start on this...

Hey Guan, you should have a beautiful collection in your house, but well I guess the owners are worried about the termite infestment, they might think you will soon live in a Yidaki... They only want to make sure that their house will be there in a few years.

I like that idea of the museum, you should have some great things + you have the knowlige to it too :) which makes it better.

Man I so wish to come round, snoop and brows through your things, catch up with you, learn, have my ears cleand and the brain emptied before I come ;)

Miss ya! :)

So now I understand why I should not paint my mandapul. If I understand this correctly, it means that balanda should not be making mandapuls, either.

So what do I do with my two non-Aboriginal didjeridus?

What to do? I think it is ok to have non-Aboriginal made didjeridus, note also that the didjeridu is not pan-Australian so a didjeridu made by an Aboriginal person in NSW or elsewhere outside of the instrument's heartland would also fall under the category of instruments made without reference to Yolngu law.

You're welcome, and more vids have been uploaded in the meantime :)

It was an interesting exercise nonetheless, for some it felt for me like it was their right to have access to these videos rather than a privilege. Again, no-one pays me to do these videos, I don't sell them either but they're here for our collective enjoyment and education, and as a record for the people who appear in them.

Another chance to give iDIDJ Philanthropy a plug:

Cheers,

Guan
