Sigh..it's been too long since I've been on the Forum, and I think this is a fitting way to announce a return:

I'd like to bring Kiva.org to the attention of forum members. Kiva is an excellent organization that distributes loans to entrepreneurs in developing countries. It doesn't seem that Australia is represented, although I would love to see a way to lend to Yolngu and other Top End peoples through microfinance institutions like this.

Thanks Guan, it's good to be back!

Yeah, Kiva is a great organization and even a modest investment has a very real impact to loan recipients. That's what's unique about it- it's a loan rather than a donation, and the money can be reinvested for future loans. It's truly the gift that keeps on giving.

Bump for a good reason.

I'm still brainstorming about how to get some Yolngu and Bininj involvement in this.

My Girlfriend translates loan requests from Spanish into English for Kiva. A very, very interesting, positive, and important website/organization/CONCEPT!

How has Kiva.org been received by the Yolngu? Any entrepreneurial ideas flourishing??? One would think this is just the sort of organization that an individual in need could use to help generate some income.
