This is one of his signature tunes, I've been trying to learn this since he came down to stay with me and sometimes I get it, but it is easy to 'overshoot'. Anyway, give it a go, tis fun Guan My interpretation of what is being played + a 25% slower version Dhirrl Didoorrl Dhirrl Dhirrl Didoorrl Dhirrl Dhirrl Didoo Dida Dida Didadoor Didoor Practice sounds to follow

Hi Paul, I would transscribe it like this: *ung drong drong dith doo, *ung drong drong dith doo, *ung drong drong dith doo dhirrl dhirrl dith doo dhirrl* dith doo, I tried this yesterday on my G. It works good for me. Maybe I'll be able to post a clip - but sun is shining outside and I have loads of work to do...

Very good Ambros, I will try it with the yidaki and post something. Tell me, in Guans original sound clip I only hear one "Dhirrl" before the "didoorrl" or("ung drong" before the "dith doo") at the start. He dosen't do a double on this ie: "dhirrl Dhirrl" didoorrl or ( "ung drong drong" dith doo) until after. In your transcription and sound file you start with a double drong ie "drong drong" dith doo but I can only hear one.
Good sound though
cheers Paul

Excellent idea Guan ! When you'll be working on it, try to make him explain bigger views than just the vamps : the structure of the song (rhythm, vamp articulations...) With musical and (why not) cultural explanations. This is really what is lacking on the other trad' tuition CDs to my mind.

Hello everybody!
Like this groove, thanks Guan. And a learning CD in this style would be great! I'd write the the rhythm like this:
dhrrong dith-dhu__ rong dhrrong dhrrong dith-dhu__ rong dhrrong dhrrong dith-dhu dirl dirl dith-dhu dhirrl dith-dhu_
