Periodically (everyday :) ) I look on e-bay for the rare, one of a kind ancient, ceremonial and wicked cool mago or yidaki. While I have not found a stick fitting this description YET I have seen some interesting things. The newest is a "multi-drone" didg?????? Does anyone know how this might differ from a regular didg (not mago/yidaki or other trad stick)? Do any of you have one and if so is it a matter of lip tension and jaw position that gives the "other" drone?

Will Thoren (the craftsman of said 'multi-drone' sticks) came up with this instrument and playing style that enables super low drones (usually an octave below the fundamental) and various toot combinations along with the usual didgeridoo playing characteristics. Have a look at his many videos on youtube or check out his site for more info: www.wetdidgeridoo.com

Good luck finding anythign special on ebay - there are so many users these days that such finds are very, very rare. I managed to get some great items about 10 years ago, but the selection just isnt' the same these days!

Kyle

Thanks Kyle~I'll have a look at the youtube video.
Not sure why you think there are no treasures on e-bay. I've seen some "amazing" things such as authentice traditional aboriginal didgeridoos made from teak in Bali and let's not forget the vintage (crapdidg) pvc didg going for $999.00!!

I never bothered looking at eBay for didjes...eBay SUCKS no matter what you're looking for. Guan's the one and only guy I trust these days.

Got this on Ebay a while back, must have just got it right, paid about £90 for it "buy it now", it's a Yali Mununggurr G with a A toot sounds just like the instrument played by Don Wurralkbanganya Murrungun in a couple of Guan's you tube clips. Needs a good amount of pressure from the diaphragm to get it singing but I love it, will post something in the New Year so you can all have a listen

Looks like a steal for 90 Pounds. But I still stand by my words. The didj you scored was a one-in-a-million find on eBay.

BTW, I've never bought a didj on eBay but I used to buy a lot of records (vinyl & 78s). eBay is a rather poor place to shop for records too. Overgrading and overpricing are the norm there.

Yeah I know, I am into vinyl as well but boot sales and charity shops are the same now too, gone are the days of a "bargain" pressing, everyone wants too much now, have got a couple of records on eBay but as you say, what a seller views as a "good " condition record is often rubbish when played on a decent turntable and good cartridge...

Wills mouthpieces are revolutionary. Got to try one of his sticks- they make playing the multi drone technigue much easier and are a pleasure on the lips. This is one of the few non trad sticks I would consider adding to my collection!

as to ebay- sometimes you get lucky- picked up an ancient fujara with metal inlay for a fraction of its value- $250.00! Got very lucky. It is fun to play. Everythings on ebay from Fakes on up... sometimes you win, sometimes not.
