just go this through, some great results, love the picture in front of the UN building!
Dear All, Thank you for supporting us on our recent journey to Geneva and London, accompanied by Rev. Dr. Djiniyini Gondarra OAM. Watch the special ABC 7.30 Report, which covers our trip here. Our mission has been accomplished and we have returned with some great success stories. Winner of 'Best Campaign Film' at London International Documentary Festival Our Generation had it's international premiere at London's prestigious Barbican Centre, and came home with a great prize. United Nations in Geneva Dr. Gondarra met with the highest authority on human rights in the land, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay. They discussed the current human rights abuses against Aboriginal people, in particular the ongoing Northern Territory Intervention. Dr. Gondarra also met with other leading humanitarian figures, including the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Indigenous Rights and the Secretary General of the World Council of Churches. Read the ABC News story here. Global Call to Action for Aboriginal Rights In the heart of London, outside Australia House, Dr. Gondarra launched the Global Call to Action for Aboriginal Rights to the world's media. The petition, supported by former prime minister Malcolm Fraser and other eminent Australians, outlines the key demands of Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory. Join the Call to Action here. UN High Commissioner visits the NT Following her meeting with Dr. Gondarra, Navi Pillay made sure to include the Northern Territory on her visit to Australia to examine human rights abuses by the Australian Government. In Darwin, she held a 3-hour private meeting with over 50 Aboriginal leaders from across the Territory, to hear their concerns. Read the article in The Age here. The eyes of the world are now on the Australian Government. We must maintain full attention and pressure until human rights prevail in 'the lucky country'. In Solidarity, Sinem & Damien 'Our Generation is a very fine piece of work. It is truthful, eloquent and, above all, explains very clearly to first-timers and the many who need reminding why the indigenous people of Australia are once again being defrauded of their human and political rights in a country calling itself a democracy.' JOHN PILGER
cheers Russ
