Has anyone heard of Garapapawuy Bukulatjpi? He is a Warramiri man that some say is THE hottest player around. Someone who can play any style and who picks things up the first time without repeated instruction.

I think he is in one of my old videos on YouTube:

Never heard of him, Guan, but there is so much undiscovered talent in Arnhemland, I'm sure this isn't unusual!

You're right there my friend. I think I've met Garapapawuy but can't be sure... I do recall a Warramiri man that Djalu wanted to bring to Melbourne in November 2005 for a festival, along with 7 other members of his family. Djalu introduced this Warramiri man to me as "nyaku yidakimi" which sounded impressive and strangely surreal... here was the Master himself calling a younger man his didgeridoo player :o Garapapawuy was all packed and waiting at the airport in Gove, but no-one told me he was coming until the last day! So of course there was no plane ticket for him. This was the same guy featured in the ceremonial footage with David Dharra'puy.

WooooooooooooooooooW............................

It's like magic to my ears, brain, body and sole. And what surprised me most is this full duke taped Yidaki, looking very small, but what a big full on sound. And if you look closely you hardly see David move ad all. It looks so natural and fluent. You know what I'm thinking? It's not so much the instrument but the sole (spirit) who is behind it and playing it. Hmmmmm lots of wind!!!
Give any off these guys, any given stick and they produce Yidaki magic. In the mean while I watch, listen and dream on........................

Hoop to see and hear more from David Dharra'puy

Wonderful video

Oh Guan who is who on the vid? because you gave this name Garapapawuy Bukulatjpi. But in the text accompanied with the vid there are other names?
