"Why Is No One Listening" wants to hear your voice and thoughts!

We understand that the sound of the didjeridu (mandapul/y*d*k*) has touched each and every one of you. Many of you have personally reached out to us expressing how much the instrument and Aboriginal culture has affected you. Well, we are looking to include your voices in our forthcoming documentary.

Here is more info about the documentary:
http://kck.st/dGofiL

What we are looking for is for you to record (audio only) your experiences, reactions and feelings to the below questions. The more genuine, personal and heartfelt these reactions are, the better.

Guidelines:
- Please try and record your responses in a quiet, noise-free space.
- record audio as .wav or .aif file format in 16 or 24 bit format. Mp3 is okay but much less desirable.
- looking to hear your voice, rather than your playing.
- please keep your responses to less than 3-5 minutes, if possible.
- don't forget to send/include (in writing) your full name and contact info for credit in the documentary.

Questions to respond to "on tape":
- What is your name?
- How old are you?
- Where are you from?
- What do you do for work? Basically, a little background.
- How did you discover/find the didjeridu (mandapul/y*d*k*)?
- What year? Where were you when you first saw/heard/played the didjeridu (mandapul/y*d*k*)?
- How long have you been playing?
- How has the didjeridu (mandapul/y*d*k*) changed your life?
- Who is Djalu Gurruwiwi to you? (if you don't know, that's okay)
- What does Yolngu culture mean to you?
- Are you aware of what's happening to Aboriginal culture presently?
- Have you spent any time with Aboriginal persons? Djalu himself?
- What was that/were those experience(s) like?
- Any unique story's you would like to share?
- Anything else you would like to say/express?

These questions are just guidelines. Feel free to expand your responses and elaborate as there are no wrong answers.

As these files may be big, please use YouSendIt to send the files. It's free for up to 50 MB:

Send to joshua(at)digitalgypsy.org

*If less than 8 MB, you can also send directly to my email.

Looking forward to hearing your contributions. >>> Josh

Nice to know the Balanda didjers are being heard too :-)
You're asking to spread the word... can it be spread to non-English speakers ?
Can the answers be given in another language ? (maybe as long as an English transcription is given along)
I'm thinking about French, but Didj' forums do exist in many countries !
Having the answers given in many different languages may enhance the feeling that the Didj' has spread worldwide.

Cheers.

Yes, the answers can be given in another language! In fact, we encourage it. Of course, the translation/transcription would be necessary, but responses in numerous tongues can only speak to the worldwide phenomena of didjeridu.

During the last French didj' festivals, some friends and I managed to interview 18 different didj' players... some of them being famous in the European didj' scene (Dubravko, Zalem, Adèle, Augustina...)
We spent a really great time making those interviews !
I hope they will be useful to the project's bonus section.
And I hope other people will reply to Josh's request too !
Come on guys, it's fun time !
