Heard this morning that B*k*r*w*y Gurruwiwi passed away at Wallaby Beach, Djalu's brother's son, gave him a lift to Ski Beach when I was there to pick up some turtle meat, can't believe this is happening. RIP warrpala.

A sea of sad news indeed my friend. Is there any pattern to the persistent high early mortality rate? I read reports of rife coronary heart disease and diabetes

It's more likely substance abuse induced suicide Dave, especially amongst the younger ones, although that may not be the case in this instance.

Sad news indeed.

He was a middle-aged man, and had been drinking, and suicide was said to be responsible but hard to know for sure from the scant info available. He spent quite a while b4 that in Darwin, actually, I got a clip of him singing and Gurrumul playing yidaki from a few years ago in Gurrumul's flat.

Any life lost prematurely is a great loss. It seems that this kind of loss is becoming more & more prevalent among the youth of the world, and alcohol plays a big part. Very sad...the best to his family.

Nothing more to say is there?? except, sad news indeed, life is precious and far too short for all of us but unfortunately even shorter for some. Once again its those who are left behind who really suffer. so our thoughts should be with them at a time like this.
