Just got these text messages a moment ago. $15,000 is a lot of money! Sylvia deserves credit for being enterprising, selling sheets to raise $15,000 so she can get a new engine for her vehicle, but whoa, that's one big undertaking! She's going to send some money so that I can buy sheets for her, I don't know how many sheets I can buy so she can raise $15,000. Does anyone in Australia know if there are places that give away things like that?

Sylvia by the way is little Bulanydjan's second mother.

I think we're getting somewhere... I had to question why an engine would cost $15,000. It seems Sylvia was going to get a new engine, direct from Japan. I don't know who gave her that advice but it is silly. Also, the way things work in remote communities, they have such huge mark-ups it is unbelievable sometimes. There's a store in one community where they sell packet noodles at 25 times the price they sell them here in Melbourne. That's right, 25 X!!!! Imagine this, hypothetically, if a banana costs $1 in the city, it would be $25 for 1 banana in an Arnhem Land community... that's murder.

Anyway, I think a mechanic friend of mine can look for something cheaper. The vehicle is a year 2000 Holden Jackaroo U8 MY00 Wagon 7 seater 4 door 5-speed manual diesel 4WD 3.0 DT. Not being tongue-in-cheek, but if any Aussies have a spare one lying around, or know where I might be able to get one, let me know.

Managed to find a solution! If the vehicle can be trucked to Melbourne, a 2nd-hand engine can be purchased and fitted for $6000-7000. Sure beats getting a new engine from Japan for $15,000.
