Hello everybody!

First of all I want to thank Guan for his work.

I have been fortunate enough in the last years and I keep going more and more to schools and other places to speak about the didgeridoo and explain how it's made, where it comes from , etc etc.

I am writing to know if anybody has a termite bored eucalyptus trunk 20 to 40 cm long. What I am searching is a rest of a didgeridoo so I can cut it leghtwise to show the termite work inside of it in a fast and easy way.

Can someone help me with this?

I will pay for it if I have to.

Thank you!
Rodrigo

Hmmm. Isn't salmon gum aka Eucalyptus phoenicia a federally protected species of Eucalyptus? Somewhere I read that it was an endangered species and a vital nesting spot for another rare and endangered species the Gouldian Finch. Goannas and lizards, too. As for the transaction, with a seller having a total of only one post on the IDIDJ forum, I would recommend that Rodrigo use a payment upon delivery option if available!

Martin has already sorted Rodrigo out as far as I'm aware, but Rodrigo can confirm.

No worries Rodrigo!, payment on delvery would have been fine, as for protected salmon gums, I am on a 5 hct property with a large variety of Eucalypts and was talking about white ant eaten out fallen over trees??? protected species abound as I am a caretaker of country.

Hi Kdidj. Is Martin a source for raw Euc logs, or was this just a one time deal? Someone I know was once a big time player, but ended up getting lung cancer and lost a lung. Now, most sticks on the market require too much air for him to be able to play and he asked me to look out for super narrow bored "raw" Euc sticks. He is interested in a Euc log but is looking for a special, or to put it more accurately an uncommon size and shape. Thanks.

I wouldn't say Martin is a source for raw logs (especially as he lives in Italy!) and reckon he had something fitting for Rodrigo.

There are several 'raw log' retailers in Australia, but I reckon your friend is much more likely to get something he's after if he deals with dealers directly and lets them know of the requirements he's after. There are plenty of small bored trees out there and many of the smaller children's style yidaki from Yirrkala would suit him I should think.

Hope this helps.

Kyle

Just to clear things up, I am indeed no source for raw logs. I bought some raw logs, termite bored mallee, from western australia many years ago. Of these one was particularly stubborn, gnarled and leaky, even though the bore itself was quite nice and grooved and interesting. I had no use for it and now Rodrigo has (or very soon will have) it and will use it to show people the work that termites do:) which is indeed quite an interesting thing to see..
