Here are a couple of strange pics. The information that goes with these images is that the dancers are from Bathurst Island in the Northern Territory. They were in Toowoomba in Queensland performing for either Queen Elizabeth or Princess Alexandra during a Royal visit to Australia in either 1960 or 1963.

The pics here are strange for 2 reasons... there are 2 didgeridoos used simulataneously as can be seen in one pic, and Bathurst Islanders don't have the didgeridoo.

The head ornaments worn by some of the dancers suggests that they are indeed Tiwi islanders. I would think that these dances were staged purely for entertainment purposes, and that the didgeridoo players were from the mainland.

Attachments:
File comment: 2 didgeridoos being played simultaneously, which is unheard of in traditional Aboriginal ceremonial practice. This suggests that the corroboree is not authentic but something staged purely for entertainment value.

File comment: 4 didgeridoos can be seen resting on the ground beside their respective didgeridoo players. 2 dancers from Bathurst Island take centre stage.
