Passive Voice (the standard accompaniment) and Higher Passive Voice (a different interference pattern resulting in a higher tone). Both are techniques employed in the Western Arnhem Land playing styles.

You know, until I really hanging with the European didj folk online, the terms PV and HPV hadn't ever entered my vocabulary!

Trevor Jones describes it as the 'hummed tenth'.

Yes, but there are more than one my friend, hence PV and HPV!

Indeed! It's quite fascinating to see the evolution of interest in didjeridu from one of curiousity into more substantial inquiry. Jones considered the 'hummed tenth' to be the most complex facet of didjeridu play, and it's become commonplace in our discussions.
