Hey Stockie,

This is the best I've heard you play a WAL-type rhythm. Well done!

I think you should try and relax a bit more and try not to force the breathing. If you experiment with the internal pressure of your oral cavity you should be able to make the instrument almost draw the breath from you. The passive voice is pretty good too!

Kyle

Well done, Stockie!

I'm sure the forced breathing is a result of the slack backpressure of straight pipe :)

Cheers guys for the compliments. I think it is that and 25 years on the tabs which I have now packed in this Jan.

I do prefer WAL to NEAL at the Mo and I think it is the new black

Hi Stockie,

Your rhythmic patterning is good mate. I would focus on sharper syllables however. Try to play around with the tone of the fundamental. Especially with the first syllable of your vamp, try to emphasise the higher sub-harmonics using your tongue.

Here are a couple of examples where I demonstrate the difference between playing flat and playing in a more focussed and controlled way. The first clip is of a high-powered mago with full-bodied acoustics. In the 2nd clip I've chosen a low back pressure mago with a fairly dull response. After the first segment where I play flat, I then break-down the vocables with "dit-dit-dit...mo" and "diiiit... diiit", the "mo" part merely being the baseline fundamental. Try that. Focus on what the tip of your tongue is doing.

Guan
