Nice to meet you Paul , Guan, and fellow brothers I have`nt met yet. : )
Pretty much Trad all the way !
Really into Mago at the moment, Love that Darryl Dikarrnga Brown.......The Brown sound, ya know.
First time I ever heard the Didj, 1995?...instant Love at first sight? Blow away ! I was in Okinawa, Japan of all places. Aussie kid , went by the name A`B. He was playing in front of a building, had a sign that read something like " aboriginal indigenous Instrument dating back 30,000 years ago". He had a tip box with not much yen inside. He was playing a Drum and the Didge resting on his chin, a string tied to his ankle extending and hooked to the bell end. Playing into a mic through an effects loop, small Amp. Sounded pretty amazing ! I explained where to go to cash in at local Carnivals/Masturi. The next time I met up with A`B, He was about 500 dollars rich ! Stoked ! We drank a beer together. I was hooked.... He was content. I was unable obtain an Authentic Didge, so I started making them out of Bamboo, pvc, vacuum extentions, whatever.....The first Aboriginal Band I fell in love with Yothu Yindi, Awesome Mob ! Midnight Oil rocks it too!(a little anyways) also bought a David Hudson CD....ok I guess. Alistar Black?
That`s about it. Now it`s going to be all about "White Cockatoo". Lets see....I have two Mago,One Buduwal Bedjek Bedjek E flat 117cm. M Blanasi D (the one Darryl`s playing on youtube, that one!) Two Mandapul, Lirrpiritj Gondarra E flat 133cm(don`t really like it yet?) Ngongu D 137cm( Thinkin about cutting that into a Mago like F ?, Just wondering how disrespectful that will be to my conscience, or to Ngongu) The problem is $$ and....getting my hands on Mago in the Higher keys, which I really Love, Ya, know ? I can make some nice sounding Bamboo Didges....Yuk ! Just not the same....feeling?
Well, I really Love ididj for sheezy ! This place has really opened my eyes, so to speak. The Real Deal ! ! !
Hmmm, That`s all for now I guess....Peace, Cheers, and all dat Positive stuff : )
